Vehicle Description 1958 Porsche 356A Super Cabriolet:
First production 356A Cabriolet in 1958 VIN 150150; Owned 50 years by famed original Ford Mustang designer Jerome Malinowski; stored and not driven since the 1970's; engine in good running condition; new clutch; new tires.
We purchased this rare find along with 2 other 356A Coupes from the estate of Jerome Malinowski, Aerodynamics Professor Emeritus at Syracuse University.
Mr.
Malinowski raced a Porsche 356A Speedster with a friend during the late 1958 before working at Ford Motor Company from 1960 to 1963, where he was instrumental in designing the most successful car launch of all time, the Ford Mustang.
It's incredibly interesting watching surviving video presentations of how he came up with the Mustang design, including the iconic early Fastback design.
He explains how he married the successful car designs of Ferrari and other European models with a distinctly American design.
It's even more fascinating to realize the Porsche 356A was maybe his favorite car design (and mine!), as he owned 3 of them.
This particular car has an interesting interior, still in excellent condition, which is an artifact itself of the marriage between the late1960- early 1970 hotrod style and one of the best European car designs of all time:
the Porsche 356A.
This Porsche has a character all its own, the story behind it makes it one of our more interesting dusty finds :
) Please study the pictures carefully rather than requesting descriptions.
Please complete any inspections or ask any questions prior to bidding or committing to buy the car.
